| I replaced the dented passenger door on my '92 2+0 with a '94 door. When I got the old door off, I noticed it felt MUCH heavier than the newer one. Upon closer inspection... The '92 door has a hefty beam running its length:
Closer look at the '92 door:
The '94 door, however, has much lighter tubes:
 Close-up of the '94 door:
I didn't have a scale handy, but I'd say it's at least 15 pounds lighter. In addition to the structural beam, the '92 appears to be double-walled (although it may just be sound deadening material on the inside). The fairly large rectangular dent it had on the outside was barely noticeable as a single crease on the inside. The '94 on the other hand, is most definitely a single sheet of steel. Something to think about if you're trying to eek out some weight savings (and possibly stay within the letter of certain class restrictions). Personally, I'm somewhat disappointed that my new door is not as strong as my old one. Ted (92TT)
